I live in a very rich and beautiful agricultural area, and I am inspired by huge fields of Sunflowers that turn toward the sun. This is a process known as phototropism. Every evening the Sunflowers turn East again, awaiting the dawn. Acrylic on canvas.

Departing from the ‘traditional flatness’ of the 2 dimensional surface, ‘Off The Grid’ incorporates some 3 dimensional elements that graze across the canvas from top to bottom. Acrylic on canvas with mixed media.

In an ever changing world this is my way of interpreting and reinterpreting the relationships of the sky, the earth , and beautiful bodies of water. I love the different textures of the land, whether it is fresh tilled soil, piled leaves or sun baked earth. I never realized how vast cloud shapes and colors could be until I started studying them. And to me water is the most mysterious thing. The way it changes, moves, flows, etc. I like being a student of nature because it never is the same.

These paintings were inspired by my experiences that I had while traveling in Italy. All of my senses were captured on every level. So here, I am interested in the layers of history stacked all the way up to contemporary times. And passionately diving into vibrant, yet earthy, luminous colors, while balancing geometry with organic expression.

I am always reminded of the dynamic relationship that I have with the earth and the sky. This relationship is not one sided. These paintings are an expression of my gratitude to the earth and sky for sustaining me as a life form. Thin acrylic glazes and texture built up on canvas and panel.
